THE Met Office has warned of a "danger to life" as it issues five weather warnings for wind and rain this week.
Bad weather could also cause travel havoc on Friday and Saturday as Britain is battered by 70mph gusts and heavy downpours.
The warnings last from Friday at 6pm until 3pm on Saturday, with Brits urged to be careful in the harsher weather.
One of the yellow warnings says: "Persistent and heavy rain will develop through Friday night.
"There is a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life."
Strong gale force winds and heavy rain will sweep across Scotland from Friday evening, with 100mm possibly falling.
And wind is predicted to hit at up to 70mph in north Wales and England throughout the evening and into Saturday.
Met Office meteorologist Marco Petagna said: “There is a big change in the weather on the way with this week looking pretty unsettled for many parts of the UK.
“There will be a risk of gales in northwestern regions with gusts reaching 60 to 70mph or possibly 80mph in the most exposed areas."
And chief meteorologist Neil Armstrong warned to brace for disruption with strong winds threatening to whip up colossal coastal waves.
He said: “There is a small chance that injuries and danger to life could occur from flying debris as well as some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs.”

Before the wind and rain sweeps in, snow is expected to fall on higher ground in the north of England this evening and tomorrow.
Snowfall across Northumbria, the Pennines, the North Yorks Moors and Southern Uplands is predicted.
Temperatures are set to drop overnight in the north, with cloud and rain expected to arrive tomorrow in England, Wales and southern Scotland.
Friday should see a frosty start for most, before heavy rain in the north and Scotland.
And although windy and rainy for much of the northern areas, Saturday should be more mild in temperature, before Sunday sends the mercury down again.
As January goes on the Met Office predicts we could see more snow at lower levels as temperatures drop.
The long range forecast says: "During the last couple of weeks of January, the northwest should see the wettest and windiest weather whilst further south should be drier and brighter with an increased risk of frost and fog overnight.
"Snow will be most likely over northern hills, but it could fall to lower levels at times in the north during colder interludes."
