UK weather breaks records with 2018 England's hottest year EVER… as temperatures climb back up to 30C for September

Met Office forecasters warned that the next three months are TWICE as likely to be hotter than normal.

Meteorologists are briefing emergency services, high street bosses, and councils to prepare them for the effects of the Indian Summer.

And the UK could see temperatures as high as 30C – meaning Brits could be sunbathing on Halloween.

The Met Office said a much warmer than normal autumn is a 40 per cent probability – double the usual 20 per cent.

A significantly cooler Autumn has just a five per cent chance of happening.

Forecasters said more warm, dry high pressure – which triggered summer’s heatwave – will send Autumn's temperatures skyrocketing.

Met Office forecaster Marco Petagna said: “September looks very warm at times, certainly in the mid 20s.

Their autumn forecast said: “For September-November, above-average temperatures are more likely than below-average.

“The probability of September-November UK average temperature in the warmest of our five categories is around 40 per cent. The coldest of our five categories is around 5 per cent.

“There is a moderately increased chance of high pressure near the UK. This implies more settled weather and, with high levels of warmth globally, an increased likelihood of above-average temperatures.”

“Autumn got to 30C in October in 2011. To get to the high 20s this autumn, we’d need a southerly tropical air flow.”

The Weather Outlook forecaster Brian Gaze added: “There will be spells of BBQ conditions this autumn.

“Computer models show temperatures could reach the low 30s, around 32C, in September.

“Warmth continues and heat from the continent means likely highs up to 24C in October and possibly close to 20C even in November.”
