TV presenter John Leslie has been charged with sexually assaulting a woman at a nightclub in London.
The former Blue Peter and This Morning host allegedly attacked a woman in the Soho area of the capital more than a decade ago in December 2008.
The alleged victim was aged 30 at the time and is believed to have come forward to police at a later stage.
The 54-year-old will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on July 25 to face one count of sexual assault.
A Scotland Yard statement said Leslie “was charged by postal requisition on Wednesday, 5 June with sexual touching of a woman aged 16 or over, contrary to Section 3 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003."
Leslie – real name John Stott – became a household name in the 1980s and 1990s with stints on daytime TV favourites Blue Peter, This Morning and Wheel of Fortune.
He also hit the headlines for high-profile relationships with actress Catherine Zeta-Jones and model Abi Titmuss.
The Scot left This Morning in the early 2000s and has rarely been seen on television since.
In recent years he has returned to radio work, presenting on Castle FM in Edinburgh and on the Scottish Bauer Radio network.
