Tube strike to go ahead in January 2017 after last-ditch talks to stop 24-hour London Underground walkout fail

TALKS about avoiding strikes on the London Underground have failed, according to the RMT union.

It means the 24-hour strike by tube workers will go ahead as planned from 6pm tomorrow and hit commuters getting to work on Monday.

Up to 4,000 station and ticket staff are set to walk out in a dispute over staffing numbers.

The majority of Underground stations in Zone 1 will be closed but TfL will run a limited service on the District, Circle and Hammersmith and City lines – although trains will not stop at all stations.

However, no service at all is expected on the Victoria line, the Waterloo and City line, the North Acton to West Ruislip branch of the Central line and the Piccadilly line serving Heathrow terminals 4 & 5.

National Rail services will not be affected by this strike but it means that there will be no tube services from key interchange stations such as Victoria, King’s Cross, Waterloo, Paddington, Euston, Bank and London Bridge.

TfL will run shuttle services where possible at the end of lines from approximately 7am until 7pm.

Transport for London expects normal services to resume on Tuesday morning.
