Friends and neighbours desperately tried to save the life of a young woman who ‘fell ill’ at a party – carrying her home to her mother before she died. 

Aimee Letters, 20, is understood to have fell ill at the party on Wednesday before her friends carried her to her mother’s house which is nearby in Dumbarton, Scotland. 

Medics had been called to her mother’s house in the Renton area of Dumbarton but they were unable to save her and she died of a suspected drug overdose.

Reports suggest that her mother’s partner even tried to desperately resuscitate her, despite having a broken arm. 

Police Scotland said the death is being treated as unexplained and a post-mortem will be carried out in due course to establish the cause of death.

Aimee was rushed to Paisley’s Royal Alexandra Hospital after neighbours scrambled her to paramedics at her mother’s house, a short walk from the party she was at.

She was soon declared dead and one neighbour described the scene wherein she was stretchered out of her mother’s house after the attempt to save her life.    

He told the Daily Record: ‘Two neighbours practically carried Aimee into the house. Next thing I heard a bang at my window, it was another neighbour asking me to call an ambulance.

‘By that point one was on its way, the whole time I didn’t know what was going on but there was so much panic.

‘Next thing I saw Aimee being carried out on the stretcher and I was devastated.’

Family member, Donna Letters, paid tribute to the ‘beautiful’ young woman on a Crowdfunding page set up to raise money for the family. 

The accompanying message from Donna said: ‘Such a beautiful girl with a world of potential.’

Connor Williams, 24, who lived with Aimee for four years while he had a relationship with her older sister, Sharona Letters, also 24, said Aimee was ‘like family’. 

Connor told The Record: ‘She was like part of the family we grew very close.

‘I heard what had happened in a phone called I’m shocked, we all are.

‘Aimee was a very friendly person and she knew just about everybody around here.’
