Three pals made 200-mile round trip from Isle of Wight to London by PLANE to get a curry

THREE pals went for a curry — on a 200-mile round trip by plane.

Danial Sabhani, 53, flew mates Simon Ledger, 43 and Mike Figg, 39, in his light aircraft.

They took off from the Isle of Wight to visit Danial’s favourite curry house in North West London.

His Cirrus SR22 flew at up to 120mph at 5,000ft from Sandown to Elstree aerodrome.

The lads then hoped in a cab for a 15-minute drive to Lahore Spice near Harrow.

They had a £50 mixed menu sit-down meal there — then took a £200 takeaway home.

Simon explained: “Danial just said ‘Do you fancy a curry?’. It was 2pm but I thought, ‘Why not?’.

“He surprised us by taking us by plane.

“The curry was very nice. It is Danial’s favourite place.”

The flights each way took just 40 minutes.

The aviation fuel cost about £60, cabs to and from the restaurant £40, and the food £250.

Musician Simon, of Shanklin, added: “Danial wound me up saying that he couldn’t fly. He kept saying, ‘Where is the manual?’ as a joke.

“It was cheaper and quicker than going by car and ferry. It would have taken 40 minutes just to get the ferry, then an hour on the boat costing £100.

“It would then have been at least two hours from Portsmouth to drive to the capital.

“We took some curry back with us and when we got back it was still warm.”
