Teen, 19, dies after being pulled from river in Devon in heatwave

A TEENAGER has died after being pulled from a river in Devon.

The 19-year-old vanished at around 4pm yesterday while swimming at King's Nympton as temperatures soared across the country.

A huge search was launched involving the police and fire crews.

Tragically his body was found around six hours later.

Police confirmed his death is not being treated as suspicious.

The death is the third water tragedy in the UK after police pulled a body from an estuary in Llansteffan this morning.

Emergency crews were called after the man was spotted getting into difficulty in the water in the early hours.

And a man's body was recovered off the Jurassic Coast at around 10.41am today.

People have been urged to avoid the area in Portland while an investigation is carried out.

It comes following the hottest September day since 2016 yesterday when temperatures peaked at 29.6C.
