Son shares horrific injuries of mum, 86, left with facial fractures after she ‘was abused by care home staff’ – The Sun

A DISTRAUGHT son has shared photos of his battered 86-year-old mum claiming she was assaulted at her nursing home.

Benny Gomez accused staff at Westfield Centre Nursing Facility in Livingston, New Jersey, of inflicting two facial fractures, a broken nose and multiple bruises on his elderly mum.

The man claimed his mum had complained about being abused before.

He told ABC7: "She tells me that the aides were rough with her and that they hit her.

"She has double fractures in her face.

"Her nose is broken She has stitches.

"You go to the hospital and to see your mother in this condition is just unexplainable."

Gomez posted a picture of his mum's injuries on social media, which has been shared early 9,000 times.

Shocked and distraught, Gomez said that his mum means "everything" to him.

He has since removed his mother, who has mild dementia, from the care home.

She was sent there after breaking her hip and becoming immobile.

The care home- which insists that the elderly patient suffered an accidental fall- released a statement, saying: "While the photos are difficult to see, no resident was struck, hit or abused."

Police and the New Jersey Department of Health are investigating, but no charges have been filed.
