Police are offering a wanted a man a birthday cake in a bizarre bid to get him to hand himself in.
Jack Hackman is wanted by police in Tandridge, Surrey, who are currently searching his house and the homes of his relatives to find him.
But instead of a standard police appeal, yesterday officers at Tandridge Beat realised it was his birthday and decided to offer him a Marks & Spencer birthday cake instead – the only condition being he has to give himself up.
Officers say he can have the strawberry and Cornish clotted cream cake for free, along with at least one night’s accommodation in a prison cell if he takes them up on their offer.
The force wrote on Facebook: ‘Jack Hackman we hear it’s your birthday and we’d really like to catch up with you to give you your present.
‘Our gift to you is a minimum 1 nights stay (maybe more…) in a luxury apartment with en suite facilities and room service (secure cell with thin mattress and aluminium toilet) with full English breakfast (microwave meal for one!)
‘We have even got you a lovely M&S birthday cake **other cakes were available
‘This offer is valid until we find you so don’t worry you won’t lose it and don’t worry we’ll keep looking for you at all your friends and family addresses to make sure you get it!
‘If anyone else sees Jack or knows where he is please let us know by calling 101.
