Police have launched a manhunt after a 36-year-old woman was stabbed multiple times in a horrifying attack that is being treated as attempted murder.
Officers found the woman with serious injuries when they were called to a property on Sussex Wharf on Shoreham Beach in West Sussex around 8.15pm on Tuesday.
They had been called to a report that a woman had been stabbed multiple times.
Detectives have now issued an urgent appeal for the whereabouts of Liam Hanley, 32, following the attempted murder in Shoreham.
A police spokesperson said officers need to speak to him in connection with the investigation.
After the attack, the woman was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton in a serious condition.
Her injuries are not life-threatening, said police.
Hanley is white, has short blond hair, is six feet tall and stocky.
He was last seen wearing a grey tracksuit with tiger print on the legs and blue and black trainers.
He does not have access to a vehicle, said police.
Detective Inspector Alan Pack said: "We are asking anyone who has seen Liam to get in touch immediately on 999.
"I would like to thank local residents in Shoreham for the help and patience with our investigation which included the use of the police helicopter.
"We currently have a team of officers working on the investigation and out in Shoreham making enquiries and we urge anyone who has information to speak to them or get in touch with us."
