Outrage as parents use filters to trick terrified kids into thinking they have spiders crawling over their face

THERE’S been outrage over parents using filters to trick their terrified kids into thinking they have spiders crawling over their faces.

Mums and dads have been sharing spine-tingling videos of their toddlers – and even babies – with large, virtual spiders wandering across eyes and even mouths.

The creepily realistic filters are sweeping social media with parents enjoying their scared children's reactions, particularly over Halloween.

A proud uncle shared a video of his terrified relative’s face, who can be seen screaming in fear as a virtual spider crawls over his mouth and eyes.

Tweeting as ‘AmirafromForestGate’, he advises: “If you’ve got a little kid nearby hahaha use this filter.

"Let’s make a thread and laugh about how dumb kids are.

“Look at the stress on my nephew’s face.”

One woman alleged “that’s freaking child abuse”.

His video, and others like it, prompted warnings from some on Twitter, particularly among those suffering arachnophobia – fear of spiders.

A woman commented "poor baby" after seeing footage of a large creepy-crawly depicted walking across one child's face.

And in other clip, where an anxious-looking toddler is trying to brush the fake critter off her face, one person commented: “I felt her pain… want it off but don’t want to touch it.”

A man warned: “This can literally cause the kid trauma.”

Another tweeted: “And you think possibly traumatizing kids is smart? It’s this kind of BS that leads to adulthood phobias and other issues.”

One concerned person added that “it’s not fun”, and wondered “why her mom doesn’t save her kid” but leaves her “feeling fear”.

However, there were also plenty of people who enjoyed seeing the kids’ reactions – calling them “too cute”, while one predicted that a boy who didn't flinch “is going to be a senator”.
