The man fatally shot on a quiet Staten Island street Wednesday night was an off-duty Triborough Bridge and Tunnel cop killed just steps from home, police sources said Thursday.
The 48-year-old victim, whose name is being withheld pending family notification, was shot on Bradley Avenue in the Meiers Corners section of the borough at around 10:30 p.m., according to police.
The victim and the shooter had been arguing before he was shot several times in the chest and abdomen, cops said.
It was unclear what the dispute was about, but the shooter fled in a dark colored vehicle, according to cops.
Officers responded to a 911 call and rushed him to Staten Island University North Hospital, where he died.
There was no suspect in custody as of Thursday afternoon.
