Nicola Sturgeon hails 'happy day' as she FINALLY gets hair cut by pro after months of doing it herself

NICOLA Sturgeon has hailed today as a "happy day" as she FINALLY got her hair cut by a pro after months of lockdown.

Hairdressers and salons opened back up again after four months of being locked down with the First Minister's own Covid rules preventing them from opening.

But she has been itching for a snip as much as the rest of us, heading straight for her hairdresser's on the first day of trading.

It comes after she faced claims that she was having sneaky trims done against her own rules, but she always insisted she was doing it herself.

Ms Sturgeon shared a snap of her sitting in the chair at crimper to the stars Julie McGuire in Edinburgh, taking a selfie as the stylist finally got to work on her barnet.

And she added the caption "Happy day".

Heather Bee replied: "Good for you, well deserved."

Suze Tims said: "Oh lucky you, I look like an extra for Duran Duran at the moment, can't wait til 12th April.."

Lola Lue wrote: "Hope you got well and truly pampered."

Jodie Lee added: "Enjoy the time to yourself! Well deserved."

There had been months of speculation about the Nats leader's hair, with her insisting she was cutting her own throughout lockdown, but lots of Scots casting doubt on that.

Last month, she laughed at the state of her own hair as she clapped back at fresh claims she's been having secret trims.

The First Minister told a Covid committee meeting she is more desperate than anyone for a chop after being asked when hairdressers can reopen.

It wasn't the first time she was forced to rebuff claims she's had a sly haircut.

Ms Sturgeon delivered a sassy response to claims she had broken lockdown to have her hair done last May.

The First Minister was questioned on social media over whether she had broken lockdown regulations for a cut given her "immaculate" trim.

One user was convinced Ms Sturgeon had broken guidelines and claimed it was "one rule for the rulers".

But Ms Sturgeon hit back with a fitting response as she slammed the "weird" number of men "obsessed" with her hair on social media.

The Nats leader later cut her own hair after her hubby offered to give her a coronavirus lockdown trim.

She took the scissors to maintain her own hairdo – while on a video call to her regular crimper.

Meanwhile, the SNP supremo's political rivals have also been getting their barnets tended to after a long wait.

Scottish Lib Dem leader Willie Rennie visited the Caldow Salon, also in the capital.

And Labour's Anas Sarwar got his chopped in Glasgow, at Oceanic Hair Salon.
