Research undertaken by American Express Small Shop found nearly half of the UK's 27 million homes will ditch traditional ornaments in favour of bizarre alternatives.
Worryingly, it is also thought tinsel and baubles could be whisked away and replaced by rainbow cakes and rockets.
Topping the 'alternative Christmas decoration list' are woodland animals such as squirrels and badgers.
Other decorations include dogs, proescco bottles, flamingos and dinosaurs.
One small business enjoying the trend for more unusual and quirky Christmas decorations is home and giftware store Sass & Belle.

Creative Director, Tonton Pelczynski, said he had noticed an increase of non-traditional decorations.
