Lewis Hamilton’s car from his first Formula One title winning season at Mercedes will be auctioned by RM Sotheby’s ahead of next month’s Las Vegas Grand Prix.
Hamilton had claimed the first of his World Championship titles when driving for McLaren, before taking the bold move of joining an underperforming Mercedes ahead of the 2013-14 season.
The Briton was joined by former Williams F1 executive director Toto Wolff, who became Mercedes team principal and chief executive.
Hamilton enjoyed a stunning season in the 2013 Mercedes-Benz F1 W04, winning 11 of the 19 Grand Prix races.
He clinched his second world title by ending the season on 384 points, with team-mate Nico Rosberg finishing second some way adrift on 317.

The legendary car was driven by Hamilton to the first of his six world titles at Mercedes
The season proved the first of Hamilton’s six World Championship wins in seven years for Mercedes, with the Briton drawing level with Michael Schumacher on a record seven titles.
Leading auction house RM Sotheby’s have announced the car used by Hamilton to secure the 2014 world title will now be put up for auction.
The auction, taking place in collaboration with Wynn Las Vegas, will be held at the resort’s Awakening Theater on November 17.
Sotheby’s stated that the auction would serve as a rare opportunity for someone to own the car, which launched a dynasty and helped Hamilton reach legendary status.
‘The world’s most desirable vehicles, like the Ferrari 250 GTOs or the even rarer Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR, competed at the pinnacle of racing. Today’s modern supercars can’t claim the same racing heritage,’ said Shelby Myers, Global Head of Private Sales for RM Sotheby’s.
‘Rarity plays a significant role in the valuation of some of the world’s most sought-after cars, and collectibles in general.
‘This specific Lewis Hamilton Mercedes-Benz, to our knowledge, is the only one available to the public and holds the distinction of being the first Hamilton race-winning Mercedes-Benz.

Sotheby’s said the car launched a dynasty and helped Hamilton reach legendary status
‘The W04 marks the inception of one of the most dominant sporting dynasties ever.
‘The trifecta of Lewis Hamilton, the powerhouse brand of Mercedes-Benz, and the car’s ‘first’ winning distinction converge to make this vehicle one of the most special and rare pieces to ever grace our auction stage.
‘Presenting this car for sale during the highly anticipated Las Vegas Grand Prix is the ideal avenue for its sale.’
The auction will also feature American football star Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers jersey from his final NFL game.
The inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix will be held on the same weekend, with the race taking place a day after the auction.
