A search is underway to track down the author of a heartbreaking message left on a garden centre Christmas tree.
Shopping centre Dobbies in Ayr’s has a Christmas wish tree that allows people of all ages, specifically children, to list their biggest wants for the festive season.
One message, left by an unknown ‘Ben S’ has been shared across social media.
The touching message simply reads "I would like people to like me", reports the Daily Record.
And it was brought to the public’s attention when customer Lorne Cunningham posted the picture.
She said: “It is such a sad message in Dobbie’s Ayr on their Make A Wish Tree.
“Give Ben S a like and share and hopefully he’ll see just how much he’s liked.”
The post has received almost 2000 shares and likes, and hundreds of people have posted heartwarming tribute messages to Ben.
Lorraine Melissa said: “Hope you have a wonderful Christmas Ben.
“The staff in Dobbies are great and always there to listen if you need or want to chat.”
Sharon Wallace said: “Aw Ben… You are liked and those that say they don’t, don’t deserve your friendship!
“Have a great Christmas.”
Mavis Douglass said: “Have a lovely Merry Christmas Ben.
“If some children have said they don’t like you, it is them that are missing out on your friendship.
“Always be friendly towards them and that may make them see they are wrong to treat people unkindly.”
And Dobbies have also offered well wishes to Ben.
