First UK man to give birth has breasts removed in bid to achieve ‘perfect life’

The first man to give birth in the UK has had his breasts removed ahead of a final £19k gender transition operation next year.

Hayden Cross was born Paige and raised as a girl, but has been taking hormones and living as man for more than four years.

The 22-year-old had intended on freezing his eggs in the hope of having children later in life, but when NHS chiefs refused, he decided to pause his transition to get pregnant using a sperm donor he found on Facebook.

During his pregnancy, he revealed he would go ahead with an operation to remove his ovaries after giving birth.

Hayden, from Gloucester, has now undergone breast removal before completing full gender realignment surgery with a £19k operation next year, reports The Sun .

Now dad to 15-month-old Trinity-Leigh, Hayden said his life will be complete after his final operation.

He said: "I have almost the perfect life.

“I’m a single dad to the most amazing little girl.

“After the next op I will finally feel like I can get on with the life I should have always had.”

The former Asda worker used a syringe to inject himself with sperm from a Facebook donor.

He previously revealed how he had spoken to the donor for a few days on a donor page, before they visited his house and provided him with the sperm sample.

In January 2017, Hayden revealed he was pregnant and went on to become the first British man to give birth after delivering Trintiy-Leigh via c-section.

Speaking during his pregnancy, Hayden said: "There are a lot of small-minded people out there. I think people will judge me because I came out as trans and now I am pregnant.

"People think you can’t be a man and have a baby, but it isn’t that simple.”

In 2008, American transsexual Thomas Beatie became the first man in the world to announce that he was pregnant.

He subsequently gave birth to a baby girl, followed by two more children.

Thomas, who lives in Arizona, was born as a woman, Tracy Lagondino.

He began having testosterone injections when he was in his twenties, which lowered his voice, gave him facial hair and altered his reproductive organs.

In 2002, he had his breasts removed and legally became a man. However, he kept his female sex organs because his then-wife had a hysterectomy.

Thomas stopped taking testosterone to become pregnant and he and his former spouse bought sperm from an anonymous donor.

He reportedly gave birth naturally after undergoing artificial insemination.
