First pics of the two men found dead at Manchester’s Britannia Hotel in ‘murder-suicide’

Police today confirmed that Tom Noakes and Hayden Fitzpatrick were found dead at the Britannia Hotel after they were called to the scene on Wednesday morning.

It is understood that 21-year-old Fitzpatrick fell five floors from a window in a communal hallway on the top floor of the hotel before police found Tom, 29, of Eccles, dead in a hotel room.

Paying tribute to Tom today, his family said: “Thomas was a fantastic, amazing, loveable man who made us all laugh and was always the life and soul of the party.

“He was a much loved son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend.

“It is with great difficulty that his friends and family have to say goodbye to someone who touched so many lives, and was loved by everyone he met.

“He will be missed so much but never forgotten for the fun, loving and caring person that he was.”

Both men were pronounced dead at the scene after cops were called shortly after 5.30am.

Detectives believe the two deaths are linked and are not looking for anyone else in connection with the investigation.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Thomas Noakes was a customer service manager at the Swinton Group in Manchester.

Photos from the scene show shattered glass near a forensics tent on Silver Street behind the hotel and a fifth-floor window appeared to have been smashed.

Speaking earlier in the investigation, Det Insp Andy Butterworth said: “This is a complex incident that has sadly led to the death of two men. My thoughts and sympathies are with the friends and family of the men.

“Although the investigation remains in its early stages and we are keeping an open mind into the full circumstances, we are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.

“I would appeal to anyone who might have seen something, or those with information that might help this investigation, to please get in touch with police.”
