A FIRE has broken out on a balcony of a tower block just yards from Grenfell as a plume of smoke billows across London.
Up to 70 firefighters are currently investigating the blaze in West London, which erupted on the 12th floor at around 11.39am today.
Thick smoke could be seen coming from the tower block, which is close to Grenfell Tower where more than 70 people died in a devastating fire in June 2017.
Witnesses have claimed the fire has spread to six floors of the building.
Danielle Bond said: "The fire is spreading upwards, don't know what it's like inside but flames are going up the building on one side."
London Fire Brigade confirmed they were called at 11.39am but are not yet sure what the cause of the blaze is.
A spokesperson said: "Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters have been called to reports of a fire on a balcony in Darfield Way in Notting Hill.
A balcony on the 12th floor of the building is alight.
The Brigade's 999 control officers have taken 27 calls to the incident.
The fire at Grenfell Tower left 72 dead and more than 70 others injured on June 14, 2017.
It led to an ongoing public inquiry and anger that the building had been coated in flammable materials.
