Fentanyl, cocaine, loaded gun seized during traffic stop in Peterborough: OPP

An Ottawa man faces drugs and weapons charges following a vehicle stop in Peterborough on Thursday evening.

Peterborough County OPP say a month-long investigation by the OPP’s Peterborough County Community Street Crime Unit led to a traffic stop on Towerhill Road shortly after 5 p.m.

During the stop, officers seized cocaine, fentanyl, a loaded handgun, ammo and cash. The estimated street value of the drugs is $29,500.

OPP seized a loaded handgun during a vehicle stop in Peterborough.

Kevon Samuel-Barriteau, 24, of Ottawa, was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine)
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl)
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Breach of firearms regulation
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Two counts of unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm
  • Possession of a prohibited firearm
  • Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a prohibited firearm
  • Failure to comply with recognizance
  • Two counts of fail to comply with a probation order

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
