Police have arrested the father, named only as Mehmet Ali Y., for the attack on the six-year-old lad in the city of Iskenderun in southern Turkey's Hatay Province.
The dad is accused of violently beating the little boy with the metal pipe of a cleaner after flying into a rage.
Neighbours called paramedics to the scene after finding the boy, whose name has not been released, unconscious after the beating.
The six-year-old was rushed by ambulance to the Iskenderun State Hospital where he was quickly taken into intensive care with severe injuries to his head and face.
Mertcan is currently on a life support machine but his condition is described as critical.
Police are investigating and have arrested dad who has been named as Mehmet Ali Y.
The boy's mother, named only as Gulistan O., the ex-wife of the suspect, said: "He had beaten him with the metal wand of the vacuum cleaner because he hadn't done his homework.
"I came to the hospital as soon as I heard what happened.
“When I saw my son he was covered with bruises.
“My son is about to die. He was beating me every day too.
“For this reason, we got divorced."
And Mehmet Ali Y's own mother, named as Halide O, said: "My son used to beat me too every day.
“I filed a complaint against him but he threatened to kill me so I withdrew my complaint."
Four family members were arrested in November after a nine-year-old boy was beaten to death in France because he refused to do his homework, prosecutors said.
Police sources in the French city of Mulhouse say the lad had been hit with what was believed to have been a broom handle.
