When preparing to start a race it seems obvious that you’d need to put your car into forward drive.
However, one motorist on an airstrip in Patterson, California, forgot the gear change.
As the start flag came down for the drag race a silver Corvette shot forward while a blue SRT Jeep shuddered backwards.

Terrifying footage shows the Jeep smash into a dark blue BMW that then appears to hit a third vehicle behind it.
The Jeep had been put into reverse as it needed to start on a chalk line, explained a drag race attendee.
‘The Jeep was a little ahead of the line so he had to put it in reverse,’ they said.
‘Once he did that, the flagger (the one who tells them when to race) flagged them off.
‘But that is when the SRT forgot to put it back in drive and the rest is history.’
A bystander said that ‘everything was resolved’ after the crash. The BMW went home while the Jeep continued racing and managed to maintain its undefeated streak
The BMW and Jeep driver reportedly talked over the smash and ‘everything was resolved’.
The first went home while the latter continued racing, and managed to maintain their undefeated streak.
