Not the ‘gratest’ proposal, pal.

Cops are searching for a couple who’s Times Square wedding proposal went “horribly wrong” when the butterfingers groom-to-be fumbled his engagement ring and dropped it eight feet down a utility grate.

The desperate pair called for help just before midnight on Friday, but cops were unable to retrieve the ring, and the unnamed couple, believed to be tourists, gave up and left.

The NYPD’s Emergency Service Unit tried again in the sunlight of Saturday morning, and recovered the ring.

“WE HAVE YOUR RING!” the NYPD’s Midtown North precinct announced on Twitter Saturday night.

“Help us find the couple who’s [sic] marriage proposal went horribly wrong after their engagement ring fell down the drain in #TimesSquare.”

The cops released surveillance video of the pair crouching down on the sidewalk and peering desperately into the grating outside 2 Times Square.

The woman is blond, and the man is brown-haired and bearded and wearing a gray cap.

Anyone with information on the couple’s whereabouts can call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
