Chip shop boss's heartwarming message to man he spotted rooting through bins for food

Shad Saleem wanted to help the man he saw on CCTV outside Gino’s Fish Inn in Blyth near Newcastle.

The businessman didn’t know how else to contact him, so he left a note on the shop door inviting the man to come in for a bite to eat.

The note said: "Dear human being, if you are the person going through our bins for your next meal then how about you pop in and I'll give you a bottle of water and a little snack for free, you are worth more than a meal from a bin.

"We may also be able to direct you to facilities in the town that may help you."

Shad's friend Dang Vuong saw the note and posted a picture of it online.

Dang, also from Blyth, said: “Seeing something like that proves how much poverty is still happening, it's quite shocking.

"It doesn't surprise me that Shad would want to help.

"I just wanted to share it and if people see it then the next time they see someone who needs help, they might go and ask what they can do.”

Thousands of people have liked the photo. One person wrote: “Faith in humanity restored."

Another said: "Just goes to show there are still some lovely, kind-hearted people in the world."
