Brazen motorist cruises down the hard shoulder overtaking cars but annoyed drivers unite and block them from getting back onto the M6

An impatient driver’s plan to get ahead of queuing traffic was thwarted when other motorists banded together and stopped him from getting off the hard shoulder.

As other cars slowly crawl along the M6 near Preston the Chevrolet driver can be seen cruising up the hard shoulder and trying to cut in front of a mini van.

With the help of drivers in the left-hand lane, the Mercedes-Benz driver manages to stop the Chevrolet rejoining the queue and keeps them pushed out.

The brazen motorist is left stuck on the emergency lane, unable to rejoin traffic and suffering from a dose of karma. 

In dashcam footage from the incident on Tuesday February 5 the car can be seen indicating as it tries to edge back into the lane.

However the silver Mercedes minivan keeps up speed with the car and doesn’t let it slip back into the queue.

After a minute and 20 seconds of trying the Chevrolet waits a couple of seconds before speeding up once more, but again being refused entry.

The driver then tries his luck with another car, but is again not able to join the lane.

At the end of the clip flashing lights can be seen and the motorists do make room for the car so that the emergency vehicle can get through.

The minivan maintains speed with the car so that it cannot overtake him during the delays

The filmer explained: ‘There had been a bump on the M6 near Preston and a van and car couldn’t be bothered waiting in the queue so they tried to pass on the inside.’

He later added: ‘The BMW in front of me also moved over to stop the car passing and all three vehicles behind bunched up to stop him getting back in.

‘Haters gonna hate, but I hate people pushing in and I moved over as soon as the yellow flashing lights came.’

However the driver received mixed criticism on social media for his decision.

One Facebook user commented: ‘Two wrongs don’t make a right you blocked him and you were driving in the hard shoulder too you can get into trouble too for that.’

Another exclaimed: ‘This makes me proud to be British.’
