Brave teen walks hand-in-hand with her parents as she returns to school where she found 'bullied' brother hanged in toilets

Danielle John, 13, has "gone through hell" since 14-year-old Bradley was found dead at St John Lloyd Roman Catholic School in South Wales.

She today returned to the school flanked by her mum and dad Byron, who delivered a letter calling for head Ashley Howells and other teachers to resign.

Byron, who believes his son would still be alive if more had been done to tackle his bullies, was joined by more than 50 parents carrying out a peaceful protest.

The farmer said: "We are here today because Bradley was a vulnerable boy who didn't get the care and protection he deserved.

"He was missing for an hour and 10 minutes before before the alarm was raised. We feel he could have been found in that time.

"Then two teachers refused to break into the cubicle where he was found.

"Danielle was there while all that happened – she saw her brother when they finally opened the door."

He believes there is a "systematic failure" of anti-bullying policy at the school as he accused them of sweeping Bradley's 18 months of "suffering" under the carpet.

The dad said he is now trying to support Danielle, who turned 13 on Wednesday – a week after Bradley died.

He added: "It will always be her birthday a week after the anniversary of losing her big brother in such a terrible way."

Bradley was given first aid at the scene and rushed to a nearby hospital but sadly didn't recover.

Police confirmed they were called over concerns for Bradley's welfare and said his death was not being treated as suspicious.

His dad – a Master of the Carmarthenshire Hunt until fox hunting was banned in the UK – previously paid tribute to the "accomplished horse rider."

He said: "We as a family are devastated to lose Bradley. He was such a charismatic, wonderful and dearly loved individual.

“He was an accomplished horse rider and founding member of the Three Counties Bloodhounds, who hunt the scent of a human runner.

“Bradley was the absolute centre of our world.

“We would like to thank everyone for their support at this horrific time. It has meant so much to the whole family.”

Carmarthenshire Council has stated that they are aware of the parents’ protest and the family’s concerns that Bradley was being bullied.

Cllr Glynog Davies, Executive Board Member for Education and Children’s Services, said: "There is a formal investigation underway, and therefore it is inappropriate to speculate on the circumstances leading to this tragic incident.

"We, as part of a multi-agency approach, continue to work closely with the school and the police to offer our support in every way possible.

"We wish to extend our most sincere sympathies to family, friends and all at St John Lloyd School at this deeply upsetting and difficult time."

Bradley’s funeral will take place on October 8.
