Boy, 5, thrown from third floor balcony regains consciousness

Emmanuel Aranda, 24, has been arrested on suspicion of throwing Landen from the balcony, and charged with attempted murder.

Aranda reportedly threw the boy off the third floor balcony after he became enraged, telling police that women had been rejecting his advances at the mall for years.

Brian Johnson told WCCO: ‘She was screaming “Everyone pray, everyone pray. Oh my God, my baby, someone threw him over the edge.”‘

He continued: ‘She was screaming like a banshee, like there’s no tomorrow. I just don’t know. Everyone was in shock.’

Earlier this week, Mac Hammond, a pastor at the family’s church said that Landen had undergone a five-hour MRI.

Hammond said the results were ‘truly a miracle’ and claimed doctors found ‘Zero evidence of brain damage…there wasn’t even swelling of the brain.’

He continued: ‘(There was) no spinal chord injury, no nerve damage, no internal injuries that were life-threatening.’

Hoffman did suffer several broken bones, Hammond said.

A GoFundMe campaign was launched to help pay for Landen’s medical expenses.

As of Friday evening, it has raised $997,363 of its $1 million goal.

Landen’s family wrote an update on the page saying: ‘All praise, glory and honor to God! He saved our son’s life and is healing him in the most miraculous ways. We are so elated to let you know that our son is now alert and conscious and is no longer in critical condition!’

They continued to say: ‘ We are now turning our focus to additional surgeries, healing, rehabilitation and eventually a return home, which we hope will happen by June.’
