Blind man suing Playboy for not letting him enjoy its online magazine

Donald Nixon says the porn site is not compatible with his special screen-reading software.

He claims that means Playboy is discriminating against him by violating the American with Disabilities Act (ADA).

American Donald started a class action civil case in a US court to force the company to make its sites accessible to the blind.

He has also whacked in a claim for unspecified compo.

In court documents he states blind and visually-impaired people “cannot fully and equally use or enjoy the facilities, products and services”.

Screen readers let them access text via a speech synthesiser or braille display.

Anyone found guilty of violating the ADA faces fines of more than £78,000. Playboy has not yet commented.

The lawsuit comes as the company auctions off founder Hugh Hefner’s personal belongings today.

His black silk pyjamas, red smoking jacket and white captain’s hat are up for sale 14 months after his death.

Proceeds will be given to The Hugh M Hefner Foundation, which advocates for civil liberties and rights.
