Bizarre moment a surfer flies above the River Thames on a hover board

A daredevil surfer was seen zooming above the River Thames on a hydro surfboard and even stops to greet friends on a boat.
The footage captures the man in a black wetsuit surfing along the river at a considerable speed near Hampton, Greater London.
The man surfs past onlookers and waves at friends on board a small white boat travelling in the opposite direction.
In a tense moment he quickly cuts in front of the boat to say hello to the friends before jetting off down the river.

The footage appears to be captured by a passenger on the red barge before the surfer swiftly overtakes them.
As he zooms down the river, the surfer passes the 19th-century St Mary’s Parish Church on the left.
He also hovers past the Hampton Sailing Club which is set on a small island in middle of the river.

The hovering surfboard is called a hydrofoil which is board with an extending wind-like structure that cuts beneath the water to and lifts the structure up.
Hydrofoils can cost in the region of £600 to upwards of £1,000 and can reach speeds of 25mph.
