An American Airlines pilot tested positive for the coronavirus, officials said Thursday — as it emerged two sickened TSA officers recently worked performing pat downs and scanning luggage.
The pilot is based in Dallas-Fort Worth, the airline said in a statement. It didn’t immediately respond to questions about when the pilot tested positive or how recently they had flown.
The carrier said it was in contact with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other public health authorities to coordinate on required health and safety measures.
It said the risk of transmission to passengers was low.
Meanwhile, the Transportation Security Administration released more details about the three officers at San Jose International Airport whose diagnoses were announced on Tuesday.
The three agents last worked Feb. 21, Feb. 26 and March 2, respectively.
Two were stationed at X-ray machines, scanning luggage and performing pat downs. The third spent their shift as a document checker at an access point for crew members.
TSA said it was continuing to “monitor the situation.”
