ALEXA users were left stunned after asking the gadget to play a festive song — and getting paedophile Gary Glitter’s Another Rock and Roll Christmas.
When Brits requested that the smart speaker play a “Christmas song” it began with the 1984 single.
The fallen rocker, 75, is currently serving a 17-year prison term for historic sex offences against underage girls, his latest conviction for paedophilic activities.
Before his public fall from grace in 1997 Glitter had been one the country’s most beloved pop stars and his song Another Rock and Roll Christmas was a huge hit in the Eighties.
Radio stations and shops across Britain have boycotted his music in the wake of his unmasking as a sexual predator but owners of the Amazon gadget have been shocked to hear Gary’s distinct vocals when asking the gadget to play Christmas songs, sometimes coming up as the first track.
Paul Crannee wrote: “When you ask #Alexa to play some random Christmas songs and it kicks off with Gary Glitter… well it just got a rollicking for that one.”
And Mark Jordan added: “It’s quite reassuring that Alexa isn’t totally pc. I just asked her to play Christmas songs and first up.. ‘Another Rock n Roll Christmas’ by Gary Glitter.”
The song is still available to listen to on streaming platforms such as Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify and Deezer, among others, along with all of Gary’s back catalogue.
Currently, Another Rock and Roll Christmas has amassed more 1,100,000 streams on Spotify.
Earlier this year, the movie Joker — which started Joaquin Phoenix as the DC Comics villain — caused controversy when it featured Gary’s track Rock ‘n’ Roll Part 2 in a key scene which showed the clown-faced psychopath dance down a set of steps in Gotham City after committing a gruesome act of violence.
