The DC Extended Universe could have played out a lot differently, if Zack Snyder had his way.
DC’s plans have changed considerably, but the director and producer has now revealed that he would have killed Batman / Bruce Wayne (played by Ben Affleck) in the sequel to Justice League.
Snyder confirmed this with a simple post on social media site Vero (via SlashFilm).
A fan had written: “What we may have seen in the five-story arc,” alongside a picture depicting Superman carrying Batman’s corpse.
“Of course,” Snyder replied.
There’s still much speculation regarding the future of Ben Affleck’s version of Batman.
There were reports that the actor was leaving the Worlds of DC to the point where other stars like Jon Hamm expressed interest in taking up the Batsuit.
But Affleck was recently spotted heading to a meeting with Warner Bros executives just last week, and Matt Reeves’ Batman movie is still in development and meant to be filming next year.
Meanwhile, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Jurnee Smollett-Bell have been cast as Huntress and Black Canary respectively in DC’s Birds of Prey, which also stars Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. Directed by Cathy Yan, the team-up movie has been scheduled for February 2020.
Justice League is out now on DVD or Blu-ray.
The next DC release will be Aquaman, which is being released on December 14 in the UK and December 21 in the US.
