Viewers tuning in on Saturday night were quick to call a ‘fix’ when the 33-year-old West End performer was given a second chance on the singing competition before sailing through to the next round.
Things looked optimistic for rock loving star Gio when he told the cameras: “My passion for Rock Music started at the age of eight.”
He revealed: “My mum came down the stairs one day and was like 'who the hell is singing?' And I was like 'Mum, it's me!' She said 'Heck son, you can sing!'”
Taking to the stage, Gio misjudged the mood as he asked the live studio audience to join him in singing a rendition of Gimme Some Lovin’ by The Spencer Davis Group.
As the performance fell shamefully flat, Simon Cowell brought the singing to an abrupt end.
“Ok, we got it. This is not working for me at all,” the head judge declared.
Simon then asked: “Giovanni, can we hear your second song please?” – with the long haired performer then singing the Goo Goo Dolls song Iris.
Securing three yeses following the second performance, Gio sailed through to the next round – to the absolute fury of fans watching at home.
“Oh! Here we go.. another Feckin fix!” one fan tweeted as Gio went through.
“It’s just so f***ing staged,” another despairing fan tweeted.
While another said: “Nice to see it’s still a fix after all these years.”

Another fan hit out at the show, barking: “Since when did you get 2nd chances!!! Fake factor Fake entertainment.”
Meanwhile some other viewers that were familiar with Gio from his work in the West End also declared that the singer did not do his beat.
“Gio is much better in Jesus Christ superstar. That was horrendous compared to #jesuschristsupestar,” one fan tweeted.
With another declaring: “everyone slating giovanni, NEEDS to see him in bat out of hell he's incredible!”
