Kandi also spills on the upcoming reunion, telling TooFab, “The girls all stuck to their guns and spoke their minds.”
Kandi Burruss just gave us some insight as to why NeNe Leakes may be on the outs with her "Real Housewives of Altanta" co-stars, most of whom she unfollowed on Instagram following what Andy Cohen described as an explosive reunion taping.
TooFab caught up with Kandi after her Sunday night appearance on "Watch What Happens Live," where she maintained she didn’t care about NeNe’s social media snub. She reiterated that sentiment to us while confirming there was absolutely no shade intended with her comment. The conversation then naturally segued into, "Why is NeNe so upset with you guys anyway?"
"From what I can tell, she’s upset because we had invited Kenya [Moore] to Cynthia [Bailey]’s party, and Cynthia didn’t give her a heads up," Kandi said. "She felt like that was an attack against her, which it wasn’t."
Kenya parted ways with the Bravo series in 2018 after five years as a main castmember. She and NeNe never got along.
"Overall, it’s just like, Kenya’s our friend," Kandi said. "I feel like Kenya should’ve been at the party. Not only that, I definitely felt like our fans should see Kenya — happy, pregnant. How can we miss her whole pregnancy and not see her once? And that has nothing to do with NeNe, so I don’t understand why she took it so personally. Cynthia didn’t tell her that Kenya was coming, but at the end of the day, I’m looking at how crazy NeNe’s acting about this, and I’m like, ‘Okay, well, it’s clear why Cynthia didn’t tell you because you flip out and get all offended and mad for no damn reason.’"
The party in question will air on March 31, the season finale.
But NeNe’s behavior was erratic even before the finale. At the start of the season, we watched her assume the position of being Gregg Leakes’ full-time caretaker during his battle with cancer, which she said changed her husband in ways she would’ve never expected. NeNe said Gregg became insufferably "mean," which prompted her to lash out at friends, castmates and producers. She even tore off a cameraman’s shirt after he tried to follow a curious Kandi and Porsha Williams into her closet.
While NeNe, Kandi and Porsha were able to patch things up at Eva Marcille’s wedding last episode, Kandi said she wouldn’t necessarily call NeNe a friend.
"Clearly, she’s upset," Kandi told us. "She’s going through all of that, you know what I mean?"
When we asked Kandi if NeNe’s close relationship with Phaedra Parks — who was fired from "RHOA" for creating and perpetuating a rumor that Kandi and her husband wanted to drug and rape Porsha — affected Kandi’s friendship with NeNe, she said, "No, because NeNe and I aren’t really hanging out like that."
"But it doesn’t matter to me if that’s who she chooses to be friends with," she added. "It’s not like NeNe and I were super tight."
Regarding the ladies’ reunion taping, Kandi backed Andy’s claim that it was one helluva day.
"People definitely got a lot off their chests!" she said. "But that’s what the reunion is for. The girls all stuck to their guns and spoke their minds, and it just so happened that a lot of people seemed to have an issue with the same person."
Kandi confirmed that person was NeNe.
"Now, I wasn’t expecting that to happen, but it did!" she added without elaborating.
Last episode, viewers also got the opportunity to attend opening night of Kandi’s steaming hot burlesque show, Welcome to the Dungeon. It was so raunchy that we wondered if Kandi’s oldest daughter, 16-year-old Riley, tuned in.
"No!" Kandi said with a laugh. "Riley is not invited to the Dungeon party. You have to be 21 and up to go."
"Everybody’s like, ‘Oh, my God! You’re a mother! How could you?!’" she added. "But listen, it’s all about having fun and letting your hair down. My daughter knows that I’m crazy and knows that I push things to the limits, but she also knows that it’s a business for me. So when you realize this is all a performance or a show — when you look at it that way — you realize it’s just an over-the-top party. It’s a party and a variety show. And we definitely push things to the limit, but it’s all in fun — adult fun."

Kandi also confirmed that she and Todd Tucker have opted to pursue surrogacy with the same woman viewers met on this season of "RHOA," telling us, "We have moved forward with our decision to expand our family." She also said Riley had "for sure" come around to the idea.
"Riley just says that we work a lot," Kandi explained. "She just says, ‘How are y’all gonna have more babies and still be able to accomplish everything that you’re doing?’ I get what she’s saying, but at the same time, she said that before with Ace, and now she’s crazy in love with him."
