Dwayne Johnson is (thankfully), very much alive – contrary to rumours from earlier this week which stated the actor was dead.
It’s not the first time Dwayne Johnson has been rumoured dead – it also happened back in 2011 and 2014.
This latest rumour started after a hoax headline was released which read: ‘BBC: Dwayne The Rock Johnson Dies at 47 after a terrible stunt attempted failed.’
Despite referencing BBC in the headline, the story was completely unfounded, and the link led users to a fake news website.
However, this didn’t stop it doing the rounds on Facebook as users repeatedly shared the viral post.
The 47-year-old actor has yet to comment on the rumours.
He responded to the 2011 hoax, telling his Facebook fans: ‘Rumours of my death are false. ‘I’m still ‘Bringin’ It’ 24hrs a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year – including leap year!’
The Fast and Furious star seems unfazed by the more recent rumours and has been active on social media, since posting about his upcoming role in superhero film Black Adam.
He told his 161 million followers about the news last night, sharing an emotional message accompanied by an image of him in his new anti-hero guise.
He wrote: ‘My superhero dreams have come true. I’m honoured to join the iconic #DCUniverse and it’s a true pleasure to become, BLACK ADAM.’
Dwayne will also star in upcoming films Jumanji: The Next Level, Jungle Cruise and Netflix’s Red Notice.
He is also producing and starring in a biopic about pro wrestler and MMA fighter, Mark Kerr.
This seems like a natural fit, seeing as Dwayne first rose to the spotlight as a professional WWE wrestler himself.
