Who set the boat on fire in Coronation Street and was it Roy Cropper?

But who set the boat on fire and why did they do it? Let’s find out…

Who set the boat on fire in Coronation Street?

Peter originally thought it was his ex-fling Abi Franklin who set fire to his sailing vessel. He reckoned she’d done it deliberately after he dumped her, meaning she wouldn’t be going to Kefalonia with him.

But when Abi had a solid alibi at the time the fire started – she was drunk on a park bench over the other side of town and had been spotted by Cathy Matthews – Peter’s suspicions turned to another of his exes, Carla Connor.

Sally Metcalfe and Sarah Platt realised that the CCTV footage from the factory, which would’ve shown how had started the fire, had been wiped from Underworld’s computer.

They realised that Carla was the only person who could’ve done it and Sally, who is friends with Abi after they shared a prison cell, wasted no time in telling Peter he was barking up the wrong tree.

Carla has definitely been acting shady, but neither of these two are responsible for the blaze.

Did Roy Cropper set fire to Peter Barlow’s boat?

Yes he did. But before you go panicking that Roy is a twisted fire-starter and on his way to being the next Corrie villain – it was totally unintentional. In fact, he doesn’t even remember doing it.

Poor Roy has been suffering with sleepwalking since the death of his mum last month.

Carla has caught him wandering around on the cobbles before and the incident left Roy too scared to go to sleep.

But sleep got him in the end and Carla realised he’d accidentally set fire to the boat as she looked over the CCTV footage.

She saw Roy sit down on the boat and knock over a lamp which was there. Moments later the whole thing went up in flames.

Carla is determined not to let Roy find out it was his fault and is trying to cover his tracks, even though it’s making her look guilty as hell.
