Star of Bridgerton Regé-Jean Page has joined Paramount’s film adaptation of Dungeons & Dragons, which already stars Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, and Justice Smith. This marks the next big project for the actor, who broke through at the top of the year for his portrayal as the dashing Duke of Hastings in the Regency drama from Shonda Rhimes and Chris Van Dusen.
Details about Page’s Dungeons & Dragons role are still unknown. In fact, further plot details about the film, which was named after the famous fantasy-inspired board game, are still under wraps. Per The Hollywood Reporter, it’s unclear if the film takes place within the world of the game or not. However, we do know that Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, who worked on the 2018 comedy Game Night, are directing and have written the latest draft of the script.
The news arrives days after Page was announced as the host of the February 20 episode of Saturday Night Live, further solidifying his rising-star status. Bad Bunny will be the musical guest that evening.
We can expect to see Page, who has appeared in Roots, Sylvie’s Love, and For the People, to return as Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings, for Bridgerton‘s highly anticipated second season. Although the first installment of the series focused on his romance with leading lady Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor), the follow-up will instead center on Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) and his romantic prospects.
Before stepping into the supporting role, however, Page will vie for a few awards for his leading role in Season 1, including the NAACP Image Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award for best lead actor in a drama series.
