Vanessa Feltz says Camilla is ‘keeping a lid’ on Charles’s temper

This Morning: Vanessa Feltz says Camilla is ‘keeping a lid on Charles’ temper’

TalkTV show presenter, Vanessa Feltz has claimed Queen Camilla is a calming influence on King Charles in the weeks leading up to the Coronation. Appearing on Wednesday’s This Morning, she responded to claims that some of the older royalists disapproved of the Queen Consort’s relationship with the King. She made the remarks while speaking to Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary, who are standing in for usual hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.

“She’s a damn good queen. She’s going to be terrific,” the 61-year-old said.

“She makes him happy. She’s really approachable. She keeps a lid on his temper.”

Vanessa continued: “She’s really nice. She’s quite brave. She speaks out about various issues that she really cares about.

“I love the way she’s having all her own grandchildren as pages at the Coronation.”

Her praise of the Queen continued as she said: “She’s an authentic person. She’s not trying to pretend to be anything she isn’t.”

Her remarks came as it was revealed that the word consort will be dropped from Camilla’s title.

Official invitations to the Coronation, which were sent out yesterday said: “The Coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III & Queen Camilla – By Command of the King the Earl Marshall is directed to invite… to be present at the Abbey Church of Westminster on the 6th day of May 2023.”

This is the first time since Queen Elizabeth’s death, Camilla has been referred to as “Queen” in formal letters.

Speaking to Sky News a royal source said: “It made sense to refer to Her Majesty as the Queen Consort in the early months of His Majesty’s reign, to distinguish from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

“Queen Camilla is the appropriate title to set against King Charles on the invitation.

“The coronation is an appropriate time to start using Queen Camilla in an official capacity.

“All former Queen Consorts have been known as Queen plus their first name.”

More than 2,000 guests received the coveted invitation for the occasion which will take place on May 6 in Westminster Abbey.

Despite the fact that it is a mere month to the celebration it is still not known whether Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will attend.

They have reportedly been invited, but their attendance apparently rests on a number of factors, including their reported desire for a ‘showdown’ chat with Charles and Prince William and acknowledgement of Prince Archie’s fourth birthday, which falls the same day.

Relations between the couple and Harry’s family are at an all-time low with neither Charles nor William seeing Harry when he was in the UK last week for his court case against Associated Newspapers.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV
