LOCH NESS

Series final ★★★★

Oliver Greenall in Loch Ness.

Oliver Greenall in Loch Ness.

8.50pm, ABC

Doing a marvellous turn in dangerously dashing, Scottish lad Oliver Greenall (pictured) finally gets his big moment after spending much of the series lying down. There's no use jumping to any conclusions about his part in the mystery. As we have come to learn over the course of this atmospheric small-town thriller, red herrings are as common as pike in this loch.

PARAMEDICS

Series premiere ★★★

8.30pm, Nine

Although it can be uncomfortable watching in detail traumatic scenes from which many of us might instinctively avert our gaze, there is much to learn from the everyday heroes featured in this locally made observational documentary. Firstly, that they are people, too, and while they may not show it, their work has an emotional toll. A bit slower in pace than the Midlands equivalent (see Saturday), this window into the work of Australian ambos is just as confronting.

MOVIE: A HAUNTED HOUSE

★★★★

9.30pm, NITV

From the bent mind of the Scary Movie and White Chicks creator comes this screwball poltergeist-movie spoof. The mostly white characters that revolve around a newly shacked-up African-American couple experiencing some paranormal activity that interferes with their sex life provide much of the ironic humour. The pop culture references are rife, with The Blair Witch Project and Ghost the most obvious. This is a cracking start to NITV's "Spooky Movies" Halloween season.
