Filming for The Crown Season 3 is well underway, with the Netflix series even reaching the moment that Prince Charles’ Investiture Ceremony took place at Caernarfon Castle in Wales, way back in 1969. As the royal celebrates his 70th birthday, it’s amazing to think that this important event took place almost 50 years ago.
Per the Royal Family’s official website, an investiture relates to “the very special day when someone who has been awarded an honor receives their award.” In Prince Charles’ case, the event in 1969 marked the first time that the royal was presented as the Prince of Wales.
According to the Daily Mail, at the ceremony, Prince Charles wore “a hand woven silk velvet robe which was created by Ede & Ravenscroft and secured with an 18ct Welsh gold clasp.” And judging by the photo of the scene in The Crown, Charles’ outfit has been recreated perfectly.
Unfortunately, fans will have to wait until 2019 to watch Season 3, although it already looks like it’ll be worth the wait.
