The Chase fans were in an uproar after presenter Bradley Walsh had a bizarre reaction to player four, Michael, during today’s edition of the ITV quiz show.
Starting things off, the 39-year-old head of analytics was struggling to regain his confidence after a particularly tricky cash builder round.
Trying to stay calm after only racking up £2,000, the London-based contestant continually got answers wrong on the board, clearly affected by his nerves.
When a question asking which of three answers was a painting by famous artist Vincent van Gogh appeared, viewers were convinced his answer was influenced by Bradley’s unexpected reaction.
Reading them out the host said: “Is it A) Lying Mare, B) Lying Hound, or C) Lying Cow?”
In response to the final one – a slang and derogatory term to describe women – Bradley began laughing hysterically.
“Honestly, oh God, only in this game eh…” the presenter giggled.
Clearly unsure how to proceed as he was distracted by Bradley’s antics, Michael paused and chuckled, slamming down his buzzer.
Michael chose option B, while Chaser Anne Hegerty opted for A, and in actual fact the answer was C.
Flocking to Twitter in annoyance, viewers claimed Bradley’s intense reaction affected the player’s decision in failing to vote for Lying Cow.
“Bradley should not of reacted like that over the Lying Cow painting, the guy may have chosen it #TheChase,” one person said.
Another claimed: “Would still be in if Bradley didn’t influence him over the lying cow question #TheChase.”
“I knew it was lying cow but Brad shouldn’t be laughing, because it puts the contestants off. I’m telling you, I doubted myself. I hate it, and it shouldn’t be allowed #thechase,” a third complained.
“Bradley getting into fits of laughter klaxon! #TheChase,” another viewer commented, finding the whole thing funny, followed by: “The questions that make Bradley Walsh wheeze with laughter are my favourite #TheChase.”
Others thought Michael needed to “analyse his performance” and that he’d simply had a “nightmare” on the show.

Unfortunately, the remaining three players Julia, 42, a wedding venue manager from Aylesbury, 24-year-old PHD student Emma from Derby, and clinical technician Paul, 52, from Manchester, only managed to rack up 13 correct answers despite their valiant attempts to gain the upper hand on Anne.
Clearly devastated by their loss, the group gave back their prize pots and it was the end of another nail-biting quiz in the studio.
The Chase continues weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
