While seasons have pretty much lost all meaning in 2020, summer television is still upon us. Sadly, many new and returning shows have been put on hold due to the whole ~ongoing global pandemic~ thing. Favorites like Riverdale, Euphoria, The Handmaid’s Tale, and even the new season of The Bachelorette won’t be gracing your laptop your TV screen according to their regular schedule. But don’t lose hope! There’s still tons of premium content coming out this summer and the good news is, I just checked your calendar and it looks like you don’t have anything better to do.
So please put aside any silly ideas of spending your summer outdoors enjoying nature or whatever it is that active people do, because you’ve got some serious TV to stream. Once you see all the shows we’re dealing with here, you’ll understand. Behold: The 13 best summer TV shows of 2020.
Love Life
For anyone who’s ever had to navigate dating in New York City, this may be slightly triggering. The cute/funny/emotional show about all kinds of relationships stars your fave Anna Kendrick and is available to stream on HBO Max.

Calling it now: This is the next true-crime show that everyone will be obsessed with. If you haven’t already read the non-fiction book (get thee a copy, stat), I’ll give you a brief rundown: Late author Michelle McNamara spent *years* obsessed with discovering the real identity of the Golden State Killer. Sadly, she passed away just two years before DNA evidence lead to the arrest of the serial rapist and murderer.
Premieres: June 28 on HBO
Queer Eye, Season 5
I probably don’t need to say this to you, but watching the newest season of Queer Eye is basically self-care. Get a box of tissues and a pint of ice cream and get comfy.

Love, Victor
Remember Love, Simon? Well, this is the spinoff, and it’s just as good. Back in February, the show drew some attention when it was moved from Disney Plus to Hulu, allegedly because the content wasn’t “family friendly.” Hm, last time I checked, getting to know yourself while navigating a new high school was appropriate for the whole fam!

Watch Now
Hollywood
The Ryan Murphy show is an exercise in reimagining the past and calling out the movie biz for where it’s fallen short. But the thing is, it may leave you unsatisfied for that very reason—it’s just fantasy.
