The heiress explained that she felt it was the right time for her only child to end the habit after years of courting controversy on the subject.
Speaking to This Is Mothership, Tamara, 34, explained that her wilful daughter Sofia – or Fifi as she's affectionately known, always "does things on her own timetable, when it's right for her".
She said: "It just stopped over summer, she was just done. I never wanted it to be a big song and dance like, 'Today we're going to stop.'
"I felt like it was getting less and less and I knew it was going to be done soon."
The Tamara's World star has received a lot of stick for breastfeeding Fifi for so long, and last month revealed she was "almost done" with it.
However, she insists it's "kind of crazy that it causes so much of a stir".
"I left the school crying it was so bad, I was so ashamed.
"It was really bad, I drove away and then I called them and they were like, "No, she's absolutely fine"
Elsewhere in the chat with the mums' website, Tamara revealed how she adjusted to being separated from Sofia when she started school.
She said: "The first few days went really, really well. She was really happy, but then yesterday and today she was crying so much.
"But it's the guilt when they're crying…
Just last month Tamara had predicted that Sofia was "almost done" with being breastfed.
Tamara told Hello! magazine: “I definitely think it’s something that (Sophia’s) almost done.
“And I’m fine about that. It’s happened so gradually and I’ve been expecting it.”
