But it hasn’t saved him from arguing with wife Christine over her decision to take part in reality show The Real Housewives Of Cheshire.
The couple, who married in 2011 and have three children, have clashed over her role in the ITVBe programme because he believes it is damaging to their reputation.
But she is refusing to walk away because she sees the show as a positive way to build her profile.
A source close to the couple said: “Paddy and Christine have had a series of disagreements about her desire to be on The Real Housewives Of Cheshire.
“She really wants to be famous in her own right and believes the show is a stepping stone.
“But Paddy has serious reservations. None of the people from the programme have come out of it that well and it seems to involve lots of rows and fights.
“He doesn’t see how it’s fun to have a load of women talking about her behind her back and is worried about the possibility of Christine exposing too much of their home life.
“He is concerned about how it reflects on their family.
“But Christine is defiant it’s a great move for her career and she isn’t backing down.”
Eight series of the show have aired since it launched in 2015, with Christine making occasional appearances in the current run as well as in the previous series earlier this year.
Their rocky patch comes after Paddy was photographed earlier this year strolling in London’s Soho arm in arm with All Saints singer Nicole Appleton after a night of drinking.
Christine later shared a tweet about deserving “so much more” — but six weeks later insisted she and her husband were “happier than ever”.
Here’s hoping her fella doesn’t throw another paddy.

Thandie's a headliner
THANDIE Newton was big news with her frizzy hair and daring green dress at the premiere of her latest movie in Canada.
She plays a reporter in The Death & Life of John F Donovan, about a US film star whose career is destroyed.
For the screening at the Toronto International Film Festival on Monday, Thandie hit the red carpet with co-stars Kit Harington, Susan Sarandon and Emily Hampshire – before celebrating at a Grey Goose vodka after-party at Soho House Toronto.
But there was no sign of Adele. She’d had talks over a cameo with director Xavier Dolan, who helmed her Hello video.
Now Nicki puts the boot in
AFTER having a high heel chucked at her head, I don’t blame Nicki Minaj for being angry at rival rapper Cardi B.
On her Beats 1 radio show Nicki said: “The other night, I was a part of something so mortifying in front of upper-echelon people looking at this and I could not believe how humiliated we all felt.”
Cardi had accused Nicki of slamming her parenting skills but the Super Bass singer told listeners: “I would never talk about anyone’s child or parenting.
“She had to say that because she has built her career off sympathy and payola (when record firms illegally pay radio stations to play an artist’s music).”
Nicki opened up about their ruckus – which took place on Friday at a New York Fashion Week party – on Monday, before premiering her Barbie Dreams video.
She also posed with Lewis Hamilton at the launch of his Tommy Hilfiger collection in New York.
Nicki will be hoping that Cardi B is only in flip flops the next time they meet.

Tom takes £92k plunge
TOM Daley dives for a living but the sale of his London bachelor pad has taken more of a bellyflop.
The Team GB athlete has sold his two-bed apartment in Borough, central London, for £92,000 under the asking price.
He bought the third-floor place, which boasts a spacious terrace and hot tub with views of the Thames, in 2012, and put it on the market for almost £1.19million this year.
When it went on sale, he tweeted: “So many memories from this place. Hopefully it will find a lovely new owner.”
It has now sold for almost £1.1million, two years after he moved into a nearby £1.6million property with his husband Dustin Lance Black.
Their new place, in an industrial conversion in Southwark, also has a hot tub on the roof and has exposed beams and brickwork.
Despite Tom’s old flat selling for less than expected, the cash is bound to come in handy for Tom and Dustin. They had their son, Robert, through a surrogate in June.
Mind you, it also means he has no place to escape to if the baby won’t stop crying.
Boe selector
MICHAEL Ball better watch his back – his duet partner Alfie Boe wants to trade him in for a younger singer.
Alfie has revealed he is lining up a collaboration with Canadian superstar Shawn Mendes to present a cooler image.
In an exclusive chat, Alfie said: “There’s some wonderful young artists coming through. I’d like to sing with Ed Sheeran and Shawn Mendes.
“My daughter is a big fan of his, so just for my daughter’s credibility, I’d like to collaborate.”
After releasing two chart-topping albums with Michael, Alfie will put out solo collection As Time Goes By in November.
He added: “It’s nice to have a break so we can focus on some things a little bit more, but we’ll be back together very soon.”
Michael had better get in there quick.
