Strictly Come Dancing finalist Layton Williams’ net worth and childhood in Bury

Strictly Come Dancing fans will see either Layton Williams, Ellie Leach or Bobby Brazier crowned winner on Saturday night (16 December).

With the competition exceptionally tight, it was Layton who came out on top in last weekend’s semi-final, gaining 40 points for his magical Charleston.

The actor and West End star has impressed viewers and the panel alike since the start, in his incredible partnership with Nikita Kuzmin.

Ahead of the upcoming final, we delve into everything from the Bad Education star’s net worth and his incredible West End background.

Layton was born in Bury, Greater Manchester in 1994, and began his journey to the stage by training at the Billy Elliot Academy in Leeds.

His family moved away from Manchester to London when he was 11 to pursue his acting career, where he attended the Italia Conti Academy.

The star debuted in Billy Elliot the Musical on 26 February 2007 in London's West End, with his final performance taking place on 29 November 2008.

He became the second person of colour to play the role, and the first mixed heritage performer to star in the show.

Layton then went on to play Young Michael Jackson in Thriller – Live musical, Kylie in the BBC series Beautiful People and featured in the CBBC documentary series School for Stars.

Elsewhere in the musical arena, he’s had parts in Rent, Hairspray and Kiss Me Kate.

His major TV breakthrough came in 2012, when he was cast in Jack Whitehall’s comedy Bad Education as Stephen Carmichael, one of the school’s students.

This aired on BBC Three, and Layton also appeared in the 2015 spin-off film to reprise his role.

The show made a comeback in 2022 for a reunion special before another series was commissioned, with Layton becoming the co-lead of the show's fourth series alongside Charlie Wernham.

From January 2019 he played the title character of Jamie New in Everybody's Talking About Jamie until May 2022, which started off on the West End before going on a UK tour.

Away from his life on the dance floor, Layton currently lives in Dulwich, south London, moving into his current property last year.

He documents his home improvements on a separate Instagram account @livelaughlayton.

According to Idol Net Worth, Layton’s net worth is said to be between $100,000 and $1 million (£797k) in 2023.

This is likely to go up following a very successful stint on Strictly, as well as more TV appearances on the way in Bad Education and more.

Earlier this year, Layton featured as the narrator of BBC Three’s ‘I Kissed A Boy’, an all-male dating show hosted by Dannii Minogue.

Layton was revealed as part of the line-up of Strictly back in August, and confirmed he would be dancing with a male professional.

The actor is publicly gay and has previously spoken about coming to terms with his sexuality while working on Billy Elliot.

He was subsequently paired with Nikita, becoming his third celeb partner on the show, following Tilly Ramsay and Ellie Simmonds.

The pair got the first perfect score of the competition in musicals week, again gaining another 40 points in the semi-finals.

But will they make it all the way and become the first same-sex couple to win Strictly Come Dancing?
