Spoilers: Gray gets away with Chantelle's murder in EastEnders

EastEnders fans have been left in despair tonight as police confirmed they were closing the case on the death of Chantelle’s death and treating it as an accident – meaning that evil killer Gray (Toby-Alexander Smith) is in the clear over the murder.

Fans know that he set it up to look like Chantelle had fallen when in fact he had pushed her and left her to die.

The detective arrived to find Gray’s home in disarray and as he broke the news, Gray was scornful, still trying to implicate Kheerat Panesar (Jaz Keol) in the death. And when the officer said that he hoped the outcome might give Gray some comfort, he snapped at him.

The pressure and the guilt was getting to Gray and as the funeral procession commenced, he couldn’t face what he had done and abandoned the funeral, to the confusion of the family.

He headed instead for the start of Whitney Dean’s (Shona McGarty) trial, where he started to lose control.

As the prosecutor’s words reminded him of his own crime of killing Chantelle, he let rip and said that things were being twisted.

As Gray was led out of the court ranting, will Whitney realise there is more to Gray’s behaviour than grief?
