Spider-Man: Far from Home‘s big bad may have finally been revealed going by a reported leaked on-set video.

The clip, which has surfaced online in the past few days, appears to finally confirm that Jake Gyllenhaal is playing classic comics villain Mysterio.

The video seems to show the aftermath of a climactic showdown in a square, with a purple-caped baddie surrounded by law enforcement and debris.

Gyllenhaal has been rumoured to be playing Mysterio for some time now, with reports first emerging over the summer that he was in talks to join the Marvel movie as the baddie.

Mysterio was first introduced in the comics in 1964, and has been portrayed as a special effects wizard who uses his talents to create illusions and commit crimes.

Star Tom Holland recently dropped a teasy Instagram video, which appeared to hint at another villain, Hydro Man, making an appearance. However, could it actually be Mysterio up to a few special effects tricks?

Filming for the next Spider-Man movie has been under way for a few months now, with recent on-set pictures on location in London confirming the return of a Marvel fan favourite.

Spider-Man: Far from Home will be released on July 5, 2019.
