Former Made in Chelsea star Spencer Matthews not only managed to reach the finals week of Celebrity MasterChef last night (September 21), but he warmed the hearts of viewers with a touching tribute to his late brother.
The reality star served up an Argentinian steak in honour of his brother Michael, who died aged 22 in 1999, explaining: “I could have made something more complicated, but this dish means something to me.
“The last mountain [my brother Michael] completed was Aconcagua in Argentina and he kept raving about this incredible steak that they had the day they came down, and how we should one day have one together.
“Obviously that wasn’t possible. And I’ve never been to Argentina so this is my take on what that meal might have been like.”
Viewers called the tribute “lovely” and said that Spencer did his brother “proud”.
Spencer Matthews and his other half Vogue Williams recently welcomed their first child into the world. Their baby is named Theodore Frederick Michael Matthews, with Michael being a reference to Spencer’s brother.
Spencer said: “His name lives on in our family and always will do.
“Every day has new meaning now. It has exceeded all expectation of what I thought it would feel like to be a dad.”
Spencer will be fighting for a place in the show’s grand final against John Partridge, Martin Bayfield and Stef Reid on Thursday (September 27) at 8pm on BBC One, with the three best cooks going onto the final of Celebrity MasterChef next Friday (September 28).
