Shadowhunters final season twists spoiled for fans… by a prop auction

Dedicated Shadowhunters fans received an unwelcome surprise when they checked out a prop auction – as they were exposed to a number of spoilers for the final episodes of the show.

A number of items were auctioned off online by 403 Auction, and viewers went on the website to see the props they could bid for.

According to TVLine and PureFandom, some of the props unfortunately revealed details about future episodes in season 3b including the contents of a letter Clary (Katherine McNamara) writes to Jace (Dominic Sherwood).

That’s obviously not cool, and so it’s not surprising that many fans took issue with this oversight.

Shadowhunters showrunner Todd Slavkin told followers that he sympathised with those who had come across spoilers as a result of the auction.

“We are aware of auction but had no idea about spoilers. That sucks on so many different levels,” he wrote on Twitter.

Of course, the fans are hoping that these final episodes won’t actually be the show’s last. Following Freeform’s axe, they’re currently campaigning for another network to continue the Shadowhunters story beyond this season.

As part of the massive #SaveShadowhunters campaign, the fans have self-funded a series of remarkable promotional events including flying a plane over Netflix’s LA headquarters, designing a month-long subway ad in Seoul, putting up a billboard in Times Square and buying bus ads in London.

Earlier in the summer, Freeform explained the show’s cancellation, saying that it “just couldn’t make the economics work”.

Shadowhunters returns to Freeform in 2019 with 12 episodes left to air, including a two-episode special finale. Netflix airs the show in the UK.
