Seth Rogen shares secrets from Pineapple Express to celebrate its 10 year anniversary

It’s been 10 years since the release of your stoner mate’s favourite film Pineapple Express, and so writer and star Seth Rogen has shared some new secrets about the movie to celebrate the anniversary.

There’s a lot over on his Twitter page, but we’re going to pick some of the best ones, most of which involved injuries on set (because they did a lot of their own stunts).

“Throughout the fight scene in Red’s house in #PineappleExpress, I broke my finger and Danny McBride got his head cracked open when Franco hit him with the bong,” Seth revealed.

“The reason Saul wears a headband in #PineappleExpress is the result of another injury. There’s a shot (that’s in the movie) when we are running through the woods, Franco hits his head on a tree. He actually hit his head on a screw that was holding a pad in place and got stitches.”

The stunts weren’t the only thing that the cast did themselves, as Rogen revealed.

“Me and my co-writer Evan [Goldberg] had to roll all the cross joints needed to film (about 100) ourselves because nobody else on the crew could roll them properly,” he added.

Director Judd Apatow then also jumped in with perhaps the juiciest bit of trivia, that Bryan Cranston was turned down for a part for not seeming “scary enough to seem like a real drug dealer”.

The director then muses that if Cranston did do Pineapple Express, then he may never have got the lead role in Breaking Bad.
